Fridge Care Tips for Kota Summer
Published 7 October 2026 · Repair Centre Kota
Short answer: Keep the fridge cool in summer by giving it space, keeping the door seal clean, not putting hot food inside and cleaning the coil twice a year.
Placement and space
Leave a gap of several centimetres at the back and sides so heat can escape. Keep the fridge away from direct sun, the oven and the stove.
Temperature settings
A fridge section at about 3 to 5°C and a freezer at about -18°C are the usual targets. Dial markings differ between brands, so follow your manual, and turn it up one step in peak summer if food is not staying cold.
Habits that help
- Let hot food cool before putting it in
- Do not overfill, and keep the vents clear
- Open the door briefly and close it fully
- Do not keep the fridge near a wall with no gap
Cleaning
- Brush dust off the condenser coil at the back or bottom about every six months
- Wipe the door gasket with mild soap and water
- Defrost a direct-cool fridge when the ice gets thick
After a power cut
Keep the door closed to hold the cold. When power returns, give the fridge a few minutes before it restarts, and avoid switching it off and on repeatedly.
