LED TV Not Turning On: What to Check
Published 7 October 2026 · Repair Centre Kota
Short answer: A dead TV is often a socket or cord problem. If not, the power board, standby circuit or mainboard is the likely fault.
Common causes
- Socket, cord or extension board. Try a different working socket.
- Remote or power button. Dead remote batteries can look like a dead TV. Try the button on the TV.
- Power supply board. No standby light at all usually points to the power board.
- Standby circuit or mainboard. A blinking standby light, or a TV that starts and switches off, can mean a mainboard or firmware problem.
- Power surge damage. A voltage surge can damage the power board.
What you can check safely
- Test the socket with another appliance
- Try the power button on the TV, not only the remote
- Unplug the TV for a few minutes, then plug it back in
- Note whether the standby light is off, on or blinking
When to call a technician
Tell the technician what the standby light does, since it helps diagnose the fault. If there is a burning smell, unplug the TV and call us.
